On December 4, 2012, two plaintiffs joined other GranuFlo lawsuits in holding Fresenius liable for potentially fatal side effects. In 2012, an internal company memo was made public, and revealed the risk of cardiac arrest and other serious side effects. The plaintiffs state that their deceased son and husband died after experiencing those side effects, which sparked the 2012 GranuFlo recall. Their GranuFlo lawyer charges Fresenius with breach of warranty, fraud and deceit, and wrongful death. They request damages of $10 million
