Pradaxa Side Effects
According to Pradaxa Helpline and Pradaxa attorneys, Pradaxa side effects can be fatal. These side effects include extensive bleeding at home such as a hemorrhagic stroke, brain bleed, severe internal bleeding or seeing blood in the stool. Most likely, the patient would also experience significant weakness and become so sick that their going to end up in the hospital. However a snior may be at even more risk as a brain bleed can look like dementia and be overlooked. Seniors also tend to fall easily as well as keep poor medication records.
Dabigatran side effects include internal bleeding, excessive bleeding, bleeding from the gums, nose bleeds that won’t stop, coughing up blood, blood in the lungs, blood in the gastrointestinal system, vomiting which looks like coffee grounds, severe bruising and excessive bleeding for women who are menstruating and brain bleeds or hemmorhage. This is deadly. Also, Pradaxa can cause internal bleeding.
Unfortunately, the benefits of Pradaxa can also lead to risks. Unlike warfarin, you cannot test how well Pradaxa is working. Unfortunately, this may result in some patients receiving a larger dose of the medication than necessary, increasing their risk of serious bleeding events. In addition, the kidneys remove Pradaxa from the body, making it a dangerous drug for patients with decreased kidney function, common in older patients.
The Biggest danger of Pradaxa is that there is no antidote. If a patient has a serious bleeding event from Pradaxa, the effects cannot be stopped—you must wait until they resolve spontaneously.
European officials had received 256 reports of fatal bleeding events in November 2011, just one year after the drug was approved in the US. European regulators recommended caution for doctors prescribing the drug to patients with reduced kidney function, especially elderly patients.
